Marvel announced the upcoming Spider-Woman Motion Comic last week at Comic-Con. Apparently the motion comic concept is taking off, at least to the point that a Comic-Con panel was dedicated to the topic.
I first stumbled across the concept when the Watchman Motion Comic was released last year. I have to admit that at first I didn’t know what to make of it, but after the third episode I was hooked. Subsequent motion comics pushed it farther into the world of animation, without leaving behind the magic of the comic book page. Which of course is the great thing about motion comics. It still provides an essence of the printed comic book, but combines it with motion and sound. It truly is motion comics.
What I like best is watching a motion comic on my iPhone. It’s an easy, and entertaining, distraction when I’m stuck waiting some where. If you type in motion comics at iTunes you’ll only come up with a hand full of options under TV Seasons; the majority is from DC Comics, featuring Batman, Batgirl or Superman. However with the continued popularity of the iPhone and iPods I think it’s save to say we’ve only scratched the service.
Okay the quality is poor, but here is a recording of the Doctor Who trailer that was shown at Comic-Con. For a description of the trailer check out io9.com. With any luck BBC will release an official trailer soon.
Originally shown at Comic-Con, here is the new trailer for the next special. Remember the knock four times is from Planet of the Dead, prophesying the Doctor’s song is ending. Which in turn was referenced earlier by the Ood back in Planet of the Ood.
Russell T Davies, David Tennant, Euros Lyn and Julie Gardner answer questions from the audience at Comic-Con. The four parts don’t line up perfectly and sound is an issue at points, but this seems to provide the majority of the Q&A. No previews are included.
There wasn’t any earth shattering announcements from the Chuck panel at Comic-Con today. As you probably guessed, Chuck’s new found “kung-fu” abilites, that he gained from downloading the new intersect, will have a glitch. I mean come on, you had to know they would come with a catch.
The Chuck-fu … he can’t just know kung fu all the time, otherwise his handlers are obsolete. So our very talented and wise creators, they’ve structured it so the powers have a window, a shelf life, there’s a glitch in the system.
And of course there was the typical Chuck and Sarah tease by creator Josh Schwartz, that something very emotional and dramatic will happen. They also announced the launch of a new fan based site; chucktv.net. The site promises to keep fans up-to-date on the everything that is Chuck.
Probably the coolest thing from the entire event was the poster created in honor of Comic-Con. Regardless of any prominent news today, I’m still looking forward to the show coming back. Let’s hope it finally finds its audience. Otherwise I’m not sure it will make it beyond a third.
