K9 Series Trailer
Earlier clips and/or data about this series left me unimpressed and uninterested. The series is billed as a children’s sci-fi/adventure series combining comedy, action and suspense “X Files” meets “Men in Black” with a zany dash of “Ghostbusters”. That’s a lot to live up to.
The updated physical appearance of K9 seems to have a very Saturday morning cartoon quality to it. The series also faces the same challenge of any live action children’s program, how to write for children without writing down to children. Apparently this is harder than you might think since so many programs are too busy writing down to children to write entertaining stories.
It should also be noted that BBC, in case you didn’t realize it, doesn’t own the rights to K9. As the character of K9 is owned by Bob Baker and Dave Martin the show will have no connection with the BBC unless they buy the rights to show it. On a happy note, John Leeson does return as the voice of K9 in this new series.
Overall the new trailer definitely demonstrates improvement from any earlier releases, but leaves me only mildly interested.
Darth Vader in Love
Darth Vader faces his greatest challenge; a pink clad Dark Lady of the Sith. He didn’t stand a chance.
Doctor Who Fan Project, Fire and Ice
Doctor Who 2009 has just released Fire and Ice. Doctor Who 2009 is a fan based production group “making a series of short films celebrating the BBC TV series Doctor Who.” The production quality of Fire and Ice is amazing. The acting is a little forced at times, but never distracts from the story. Overall, it’s extremely impressive for a fan created project. Kenneth Raymond Moore stars as The Doctor and Jennifer Richman as Alice Hemingway. Doctor Who 2009 provides a Bit Torrent link of the entire episode in DVD quality format.

45 Years of Doctor Who Stories
Stumbled across this video by BabelColour, listing all Doctor Who stories from 1963-2008. I would dispute placing the 1993 Children’s in Need special, Dimensions in Time, as part of the regular story list. I have never seen the special, but everything I’ve read indicates to me that it was more a spoof than anything that should be considered canon. Regardless, a nice tribute to the long history of a great show.
Astonishing X-Men Motion Comic Trailer
A trailer for the forthcoming Astonishing X-Men motion comic trailer was released by Marvel. Hopefully it will be as good as the recent Spider-Woman motion comic.
Cyclops and Emma Frost re-form the X-Men with the express purpose of “astonishing” the world. But when breaking news regarding the mutant gene unexpectedly hits the airwaves, will it derail their new plans before they even get started? As demand for the “mutant cure” reaches near-riot levels, the X-Men go head-to-head with the enigmatic Ord, with an unexpected ally – and some unexpected adversaries – tipping the scales!
Astro Boy Trailer
Starting out as a manga, Astro Boy first hit Japanese television screens in the 1960’s. It was a major influence, helping shape anime as we know it. I never was fan of the original, only seeing a few excerpts from the manga and/or clips of the television series. As a result I carry little, or no, baggage with me about this CGI update. Does it over Americanize the concept? I don’t know and I don’t care; not as long as I find it a fun movie experience come October.
Tennant & Davies Interview
David Tennant and Russell T. Davies interview; a nice follow-up after ComicCon.
Doctor Who Anime
Just discovered this production clip of a Doctor Who anime. Impressive work by Paul “OtaKing” Johnson. The story is highlighting the Jon Pertwee “Man of Action” Doctor, with fantastic new designs for the Cyberman and Davros. Perfect choices for an anime style Doctor Who.
Jabberwocky
Better Off Ted isn’t a show I watch on a regular basis, but when I catch it I do enjoy the work place satire. Their presentation on Jabberwocky, a non-existent product, is a prime example. Proving once again all you need is flash and not substance.
