Astonishing X-Men Motion Comic Trailer

A trailer for the forthcoming Astonishing X-Men motion comic trailer was released by Marvel. Hopefully it will be as good as the recent Spider-Woman motion comic.

Cyclops and Emma Frost re-form the X-Men with the express purpose of “astonishing” the world. But when breaking news regarding the mutant gene unexpectedly hits the airwaves, will it derail their new plans before they even get started? As demand for the “mutant cure” reaches near-riot levels, the X-Men go head-to-head with the enigmatic Ord, with an unexpected ally – and some unexpected adversaries – tipping the scales!

Astro Boy Trailer

Starting out as a manga, Astro Boy first hit Japanese television screens in the 1960’s. It was a major influence, helping shape anime as we know it. I never was fan of the original, only seeing a few excerpts from the manga and/or clips of the television series. As a result I carry little, or no, baggage with me about this CGI update. Does it over Americanize the concept? I don’t know and I don’t care; not as long as I find it a fun movie experience come October.

Spider-Woman Motion Comic Trailer

Marvel announced the upcoming Spider-Woman Motion Comic last week at Comic-Con. Apparently the motion comic concept is taking off, at least to the point that a Comic-Con panel was dedicated to the topic.

I first stumbled across the concept when the Watchman Motion Comic was released last year. I have to admit that at first I didn’t know what to make of it, but after the third episode I was hooked. Subsequent motion comics pushed it farther into the world of animation, without leaving behind the magic of the comic book page. Which of course is the great thing about motion comics. It still provides an essence of the printed comic book, but combines it with motion and sound. It truly is motion comics.

What I like best is watching a motion comic on my iPhone. It’s an easy, and entertaining, distraction when I’m stuck waiting some where. If you type in motion comics at iTunes you’ll only come up with a hand full of options under TV Seasons; the majority is from DC Comics, featuring Batman, Batgirl or Superman. However with the continued popularity of the iPhone and iPods I think it’s save to say we’ve only scratched the service.

Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer

Yes, I kid you not. This is a real live comic book published by SG Publishing. This is the kind of story that could be witty and entertaining or inane and painful. Personally I’m intrigued, but we’ll have to wait until September when this 128 paperback hits the stands for the final word.

After seeing Geppetto die at the hands of vampires, Pinocchio swears revenge in this darkly funny graphic novel. As the vampires plot the enslavement of mankind, only a one-puppet army stands in their way. But will a wooden boy and his endless supply of stakes—courtesy of plenty of lies and his elongating nose—be enough to save the day?

Green Lantern Trailer

Perhaps one of the coolest, most professional, fan made movie trailers I’ve ever seen. Great montage of clips that work really well together, providing a realistic feel. Makes me anxious for the real Green Lantern movie trailer.

Japanese Spider-Man

Marvel Comics is showcasing Japanese Spider-Man, with new episodes every week. An interesting take on a classic character. I think the highlights are the Speed Racer style car and the giant robot.
